3. The Lower Cross Member

In order to simplify the design process, we are initially going to design the cart square (18 inches long and 18 inches wide). This will allow us to use some standard AutoCAD® tools to speed up the drawing time. The cart has been specified at 18 inches wide. Subtracting for two 1.5 inch legs, the length we want for our lower cross members is 15 inches.

Open the AutoQuoterX™ Main Form, and specify a 15 inch long piece of 1515-Lite, with 7060 5/16-18 end taps at each end.

Now we will use the new “intelligent” connect feature of AutoQuoterX™ to automatically orient and align this piece of extrusion with the leg that we will be attaching it to.

Press the button.

AutoCAD® asks you to select a T-slot. Select the T-slot indicated by the arrow in Figure 8.

AutoCAD® now asks you to select an insertion point. Select the endpoint of that same T-slot, as shown in Figure 9.

This will connect the new extrusion to the T-slot on the leg and orient it appropriately. See Figure 10.
